Diana Fleischman is one of my favorite psychologists in the world. A classic “deeply cares about ideas” intellectual. She’s got an amazing track record in academic psychology, a great ability to explain subtle ideas to a broad audience, and a fantastic attitude. Since you responded to the question about becoming a garbage man by noting that people are paid better for worse jobs, I should note that while compensating differentials are conventional wisdom among economists, other social scientists say the evidence doesn't support them.
