I'd like to hear from feminist mothers of large families (if any such exist!) It seems that most of the people who choose to have 3+ kids simply do not care about maintaining an egalitarian relationship, which makes the "selfish reasons" less convincing for someone who does.
I can think of one friend whose wife is definitely a feminist, and they have 3. Though I'm not sure precisely what "egalitarian relationship" means -- she has strong ideas about education and has taken off work to "home school" them through at least the preschool years.
I'd agree that practically no one is going with a pure daycare approach with more than 2 kids, if that's what "egalitarian" means here.
I look at the Amish or even Mormons and think "while I can buy genes matter, it really does seem like peer effects lead to more children."
Or we might talk about Jews. Even if we limit ourselves to the Ashkenazi, TFR of Israel Ashkenazi (non orthodox) is pretty high by first world standards, while American Ashkenazi fertility is incredibly low. There has to be something going on there beyond genes, which aren't that different.
Well, not a mother here, but am a father of 7, and while I cannot say that having foreknowledge of this on the altar would have filled us with enthusiasm, the actual lived reality is that it has been a lot of work (and work is not at all a bad thing) and a lot of FUN. Would not trade it for anything less.

Advice from my husband - we have three. https://www.jefftk.com/p/equal-parenting-advice-for-dads
I've done more during the first year with each baby, but after that he's done at least as much.
Would Nancy Pelosi (5 kids) or Amy Coney Barret (5 biological 2 adopted) count as being in an egalitarian relationship?
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers!
Thank you Bryan and Anna! You are truly making the world a better place by being joyful and enthusiastic parents.
Thanks for mitigating dysgenic fertility!

What do you think of peer effects?

Always appreciate this sentiment.
If your not a helicopter parent, is there anything in the book that one would take away?

God bless you. Children are a blessing to their families and to the world.
