Now in my 30’s I’ve noticed a similar flavor in academia, and perhaps it is because more academics are public figures and have learned to publicize their work. Perhaps there is something about carelessly wielding a megaphone that risks making individuals and institutions a net negative for society. I think more silence on would do us all a lot of good.
