Circa 1990, Laissez-Faire Books asked Milton Friedman to tell the world, “Why Government Is the Problem” for their audio tape series. They recorded his lecture, then followed-up with a free-wheeling conversation between show host David Boaz, my former co-blogger David Henderson, Sally Pipes of the Pacific Research Institute, and Hannes Gissurarson of the University of Iceland.
As part of my Lost Lectures series hosted by the Salem Center for Policy, this vintage Friedmanalia is once again available. For free. Can you say “CPI bias,” children?
At the time of the talk, Friedman was already pushing 80, but he’s still his priceless self. And the back-and-forth is truly a hoot. Enjoy and share!
Thank you - listening to Friedman was priceless . . .”there used to be giants”.
Find it interesting that he is so in favor of term limits. Wonder if he would still be in favor of that today. Seems the population has moved left in the USA. Term limits would likely rush in a increase in the size of government.
