My friends Anna and Igor Krupitsky have used AI to create an audiobook version of Self-Help Is Like a Vaccine. What do you think?
Meanwhile, my friend Keith Knight and I did a fun podcast on the new book. Which makes an excellent Christmas gift, by the way.
And don’t miss this Stoic versus Epicurean exchange on the book:
I'm not sure what app was used, but you can get a considerably more natural, realistic-sounding voice using ElevenLabs. The app is free on iOS, and you can simply upload the book contents; the AI voice of your choice will read the book to you for free, and it's even automatically sorted into chapters, etc. The voice quality is far superior to what we hear in the youtube video, and it's completely free. To my ear, the voices on Eleven Labs are almost indistinguishable from a real person. You can even use famous voices, like Burt Reynolds or Laurence Olivier (licensed to ElevenLabs), to narrate your book!
FWIW, I often use the share button on your blog posts here to upload them to the ElevenLabs app and have them read to me while e.g. commuting.
I already own your book on Kindle and I often used my iPhone’s reader to listen to your essays. Not nearly as good as the AI, but I love having the written essays on demand.
